Emergent Encounters[]
These perilous encounters can occur at any time, no matter if another is also occurring. They can cross over into other encounters listed on this page, adding greater danger and challenge for the crew involved.
Skeleton Ship
Main article: Skeleton Ship
A Skeleton Galleon or Sloop can either appear roaming the open seas or as a random spawn beside a player Ship. These ships can be identified from afar with their tattered sails, unique green and blue lanterns, and are sailed by a crew of Skeletons. Viewing a Skeleton Ship through a spyglass provides a unique audio cue to further distinguish it between a Player’s ship. They are armed with one type of the many green or purple Cursed Cannonballs. They will usually roam from island to island, staying still for a moment until moving to another landmark. They can be aggressive immediately, or passive until Player Ship approach too closely or it is shot with a Cannon, then becoming aggressive, firing upon and following the Player’s Ship. The Skeletons on the ship can fix holes with planks and put out fires but they can’t bail water. Once a Skeleton Ship sinks, 3-12 pieces of Treasure items that were on board will float to the surface. Skeleton Ships have a high chance of dropping Skeleton quality loot.
Megalodon
Main article: Megalodon
Megalodons are huge sharks the size of Sloops who prey on unsuspecting crews in the Open Seas. There are five Megalodons of different colours, behaviours, and rarity who can appear from out the seas to a tense musical cue and start circling the crew’s ship. Like Krakens, these Megalodons can only appear in the Open Seas. When players get too close to landmarks or Islands, the Megalodon will often give up the chase, lying in wait for the ship to return from the shores. Every now and then, a Megalodon will charge at the ship, knocking the ship around along with crewmates close enough to the charge and leave the hull broken. Megalodons have to be fought off with Cannons and have differing health depending on the ship’s size. In addition to the Megalodon Meat, they have a similar reward pool to Skeleton Ships.

Description[]
Every Fort Island is set up like a Motte and Bailey Castle with the main fortress built on top a hill with a heavily fortified courtyard below. The fortification structures surrounding the main Fortress itself are made of plain wood, however they are surrounded by spikes on shorelines and guard towers both built on the walls and inside the surrounding shorelines. Most of the in-land towers are fitted with Cannons and Barrels with two featuring Ammo Chests. The sea-towers all contain 3 Cannons and a few Barrels. The main fortress structure has 3-4 floors and a Treasure Vault below it that becomes locked during a Skeleton Fort World Event.

Sudd’s Journals[]
CLICK FOR JOURNALS |

The North Star Guides You
(Eastern islet, Rum Runner Isle)
Sudds met a young whippersnapper today. Green as leaves, he was. He hadn’t even heard of the North Star! You don’t need no spyglass to find her, Sudds told the lad, she’s the biggest and brightest friend and she likes to stay put. Spot the North Star and you’ll never need a compass again! And the boy smiled, and asked Sudds: «What if it’s raining?» Sudds gave the lad a thick ear. Busy, too busy for foolish questions! Gots to reach ol’ Plunder by nightfall…
The Little Glimmer Fish
(Highest peak, Plunder Valley)
Brave little Glimmer Fish… He used to swim down here in the water with all of his brothers and sisters, shining in the sun. Sometimes it’s not wise to shine too brightly… Bigger fish came with empty bellies, and their teeth went snicker-snack! Soon Glimmer Fish was the only one left to guide the ancient ones on their journey here. One brave little light, all alone… The ancients felt sorry for Glimmer Fish and placed him in the heavens where he could swim in safety. Lucky little fishy! Now Sudds must swim along too, all the way to the shores named after the sneaky snake…
Snake Gets What He Deserves
(Mainland, Snake Island)
Snake has many voices and likes to play tricks. He coiled along a branch and waited until the Great Warrior was near. «Help me!» came the Sea Queen’s cry, «Won’t someone help me, for wicked One-Eye has me by the tail!» Warrior heard it all. Warrior ran through the trees, not looking up above his head, and whump! There came Singing Snake to coil around his throat. Snake is cunning, but Warrior is strong! He grabbed at Snake and hurled him up into the stars, where he has lived ever since! Sudds can’t get a good view from here. Needs to sail out to Old Harry’s place before daybreak…
The War that Shook the Sky
(Northeast rock, Devil’s Ridge)
There was once a great battle that shook the whole heavens, and caused great sadness to Sudds’s friends above. Great Warrior knew that he would have to battle Old Kraken, for she planed to feast on the merfolk and their kin. To fletch the arrows he would need, Warrior told Proud Eagle to give up eight of his feathers, or they would go to war. Eagle refused, of course, and tore at Warrior with his sharp talons, but it was no use. Warrior fled with his golden prizes! He dropped one feather as he fell back to earth, and it’s still in the stars! Sudds wants to see it from the moon-shaped isle…
The Binding of the Kraken
(Southwest rocks, Crescent Isle)
Great Warrior took his arrows and went to make war with Kraken, but he had lost a feather along the way. He thought of Singing Snake and the venom it used to bite, and he tipped each of his arrows with the very same. The arrows stung the Old Mother and made her sleepy, so that she sank down to the sea bed. Warrior gave out a great cry. The ancients came, then, with their great chains. Together they bound Kraken rightly to the star above, far out of reach. The Sea Queen was grateful, for her people were saved, and she promised they would always help those lost at sea.

The World Event[]
Ghost Fleets are one of the rotating World Events. A Ghost Fleet is indicated by Flameheart’s ghostly head appearing above a Large Island in the skies. The chosen Island will be circled by a Fleet of Ghost Ships. Flameheart will start taunting Crews when they get close to the World Event. When a World Event is not present, the Kraken appears to attack a single Ship. If a Ghost Fleet is not present, Players will have to first complete the currently active World Event to have a chance for the Fleet to appear. If no World Event clouds are present, the Crew might have to sail into open waters to summon the Kraken before Events switch.
Ghost Fleets appear around a Large Island in one of the three main Regions.

Tips[]
- When fighting Galleons, plan and aim your cannonballs just below the waterline on the opposing ship first. Attacking the first deck is far less effective without hitting the second. This can be made easier with Ballastballs.
- Try to spread your cannon shots out. Hitting the same spot over and over only widens an existing hole (although it will prevent the other crew from patching that one hole temporarily), but it does not speed up the buildup of water that much, it is better to leave the ship with more holes to fix.
- The Sloop and Brigantine are extremely vulnerable to attacks from the rear. You can be shot by cannon fire while on the wheel, the anchor, the sails, or even while repairing holes in the bottom deck. Players on top deck can get knocked off their ship from Cannon fire. Players attacking Sloops can use this knowledge to their advantage and players piloting Sloops should use this knowledge to guard their ship’s weaknesses.
- Gold Skeletons have a special weakness vs Cannons. Kiting them in a pool of water before firing a Cannonball will make quick work of them.
- Shooting a Mast via Cannon will cause damage, causing the Mast to break and fall over in 3 Cannonball hits or 1 Chainshot hit. This is particularly effective against Sloops due to having only the one mast.
Raids[]
Raids are unique Events in that while they share some elements with World Events, they have to be activated by the Player and are active at the same time as other World Events.
Fort of the Damned
Main article: Fort of the Damned (Raid)
The Fort of the Damned is currently the only Raid type World Event that can be activated at any time. To activate a Fort of the Damned Raid, Players need to light the Lanterns of the 6 Ferryman Statues inside the Fort with each Flame of Fate and place a Ritual Skull on the headless skeleton inside the ritual cage.
The start of the Raid is signaled by a massive Red Skull Cloud above the Fort of the Damned, after which, 12 waves of Shadow of Fate Skeletons will start spawning on the Players. After the last wave, Ghost of Graymarrow will appear, who needs to be killed for the Fort of the Damned Key. The Vault of the Fort contains various Treasure for all Trading Companies (even Athena’s Fortune and Reaper’s Bones).
Notes[]
- It is not required to locate all clues to find the shipwreck.
- The shipwreck and its cargo will remain after the voyage is complete.
- The Wilds is not an ideal environment to embark on this voyage. The area has darker lighting, making it harder to see the flocks of seagulls of the shipwreck and barrels.
- It is possible for the Manifest to be found floating on the surface instead of on a shipwreck. If this occurs, the shipwreck may be located elsewhere, or may not exist at all due to a bug in the game. Picking up the Manifest causes all clue sites to despawn, which may make finding the shipwreck difficult or impossible. So consider carefully before picking up the Manifest in this situation.
